  • Hi Josh! ♡'d this video... My mom used to belong to a social group called "Home Bureau". They met once a week & socialized whilst making a craft & then snacking on what a couple women brought! I have inherited most of her kept projects! Your wreath reminded me of one she made with her friends. This next Christmas/2021, do a new one & add shelled nuts!(Brazil nuts, almonds, walnuts & pecans.) The cones & various nuts look amazing along side one another! You'll ♡ it!

  • Have you tried using liquid starch? Are used to do that as a kid with balloons and colored string. Then you pop the balloon and pull it out and you have an Easter egg.

  • Hey Hon, you squeezed out wayyyy too much glue. Yes it should look sloppy when it's wet. And mine always take at least 2-3 days to dry enough (depends on weather outside and what temp/humidity is in your apartment too) to take it off the mold but then after I remove it, I give it at least another 24 hours, longer if you have the time, to let finish drying 110%. It will dry clear. Also cool to use lil water balloons and using jute string or any thinner string (maybe a mix of cotton and jute?) and wrap around the lil tiny water balloons to make orbs. If you want to glam it up, once it's dry, take a small paint brush with either left over glue in your bowl (use a container so you can put a lid on it to save!) or mod podge and just dab on whatever areas you want and add some chucky clear glitter or whatever color you want! Make really cool everyday decor or make a few and pile in a big wooden bowl for a centerpiece on a table or even coffee table. Good luck! Happy Holidays!

  • Love that you shared your fail instead of pretending everything always works out perfectly! I suggest trying different base such as an ice cream cone or a cardboard cone. Also, I would try a stronger glue and try letting it dry longer!

  • Maybe paint it with a coat or two mod podge or glue after it dries to stiffen the yarn?

  • I just loved the yarn part, especially since nowadays there are so many people out there that only show things that are always perfect Instagram-Pinterest like, when in real life it is not, and it is important to show this part too, especially to the youngest who attach so much importance to everything they see on the internet and assume a virtual reality that does not fit in with their lives in reality and become depressed. So thank you very much for your honesty and humility, I really appreciate that you didn't remove that part of the video. Merry Christmas!

  • Very cool projects, it is great that they can all be embellished and individualised to suite different decors, personalities and interests. I was a little disappointed though that the projects in the vlog cost more than a $1 which didn't reflect the title of the vlog. Most of the projects were fairly budget friendly and cute so that part of the title was very true.

  • In regards to the yarn trees - I think you used too much water the measurements should be 90% glue 10% water and you would be good to go - I make gift boxes in all shapes and forms from cardboard and paper and when I use that mixture they are hard as wood - made a dresser for my kids out of cardboard, I can stand on it and it doesn't even budge :)

  • Fabric Stiffener will work for your yarn trees. Love your DIYs!

    artssygrlartssygrl4 oy oldin
  • I agree with other commenters about using too much water in your glue. I also think you should criss-cross the yarn a little more for structure support.

    kcandedkcanded4 oy oldin
  • The problem was the amount of water you mixed in with the glue. Don't use water!

  • Where did you get all of those pine cones? Just outside or from a store? Some areas don’t have pine ones that’s why I ask :)

    Tara HowerTara Hower4 oy oldin
  • Too much water in your glue!! You didn't wind on your yarn tight enough neither did you do it from top to bottom of your come. Rush job I'm afraid, do it again and take your time, wind yarn tightly around the whole cone and use a stronger glue solution.

  • On that tree fail- I think u put the yarn on dry then paint on the glue solution.

    Carol SlyCarol Sly4 oy oldin
  • have you tried making the trees in layers? and cut the yarn for each circle so it has less mass and more time to dry? and with the layers it may just stick better but don't over do it and let each layer dry properly?

  • Hi..I love your channel! For your yarn trees, you should try fabric stiffener...you can find it at your local craft store. Modge Podge and other companies make it. Good luck!

    Kathy2657Kathy26574 oy oldin
  • For the trees, try wired twine or yarn. Or making sure that you use stronger glue/less water and make sure they criss cross properly.

  • Love your videos! Tip for the string lantern: people typically paint a layer of that glue mixture on top of the string shape once it's been wrapped around the object, in addition to dipping it in glue prior to wrapping. So two rounds of glue. It just cements the strings together on top of each other better. Also, it may be worth it to have more rounds of string at the bottom for a stronger base. Also, as you suggested a better glue or thicker consistency may help. Thanks for sharing Lone Fox!

    shortishpersonshortishperson4 oy oldin
  • For the yarn trees, maybe switch your glue for pva glue (like carpenters/wood glue) or mod podge, and use a lower water to glue ratio (like 2 parts glue to 1 part water). Also, try wrapping your yarn a little tighter around the cones and in a more ‘random’ pattern (not in a spiral from the bottom, but more ‘messy’) that way the yarn can glue to itself. Hope this helps!

  • Maybe spread the yarn out where it was piled up and put it where there wasn't any yarn. I'd let it set longer than 24 hours. Also, plastic wrap and aluminum foil tend to cause heat to occur. Maybe wax paper or parchment paper taped to your cone. But I always love your videos!❤
