  • This is soooooo amazing and really makes me want to do my naked IKEA drawers too! (Just have to fix those stupid inner rails that keep breaking!!!) Meanwhile when you were picking the colour I was like "Pale Oak, Pale Oak, pick Pale Oak!!" And when you were explaining why you chose it, I was like YES YES EXACTLY THAT!!! XD Thank you soooo much for doing these, I love watching your videos so much. Thanks for being so down to earth and always ready to show your flaws, methods, trials and errors, and just being a humble human being!! Many loves from Belgium!

I might also check out thrift stores/fb market place/cl for a similar dresser because it seems like you could do that style with pretty much any wooden dresser but I love the shape and size of that one!! great video!

  • Looks nice in the end. One thing I've learned from doing these types of projects...painting the trim before you cut it will help from having to worry about hand painting it once it's applied. Then all you have to do is touch up the cut ends.

  • Drew, I am so blown away by your creativity! I am about to make over a nightstand and will try this on the one shelf. Also, if you don't have a paint tray, line a 9x13 pan with foil and you have a sturdy tray. You can just toss the foil when you are done. You can also fit the pan into a plastic grocery bag and that will work too. Last suggestion: when you have to paint furniture feet; use soup cans to lift them off the floor so you can work without worrying about getting paint on your floor. Thank you for sharing your great mind with us!

  • Awe, it turned out beautiful!!! Here's a super time saving tip... Paint the trim/baseboard/crown etc. first! Then cut/apply/fill and touch up! Whenever I have trim to apply (even pre-primed) I always paint first! Try it! You'll save so much valuable time!

  • I want to do something like this, does there need to be any type of “priming” or “finishing coat” that would need to be applied to the paint job? Sorry if those aren’t the right terms, I have no idea how to handle painting wood!

  • good colour bleeds though because of the tannins in the wood, you need a shellac based primer like bin to seal the tannins in otherwise it will bleed though over the next year. now grain texture comes from the wood itself. some woods like oak have noticable grain, pine has harder and softer sections which as it dries over time can create slight divots. if you want a completely smooth finish you need to fill the grain. there are grain fillers for stained pieces or good old bondo if you are painting. you can sand it down baby smooth.

  • Dear lone fox, I looove your videos, I really do but can I please leave some constructive criticism- you say “I’m going to go ahead” and “I went ahead” A LOT - which is fine in itself - and I’m sure you are aware if you edit your own stuff - we all have our language idiosyncrasies but it would make your videos better if it were said less - you could cut them out of the bits where you are not talking to camera to begin with, which would be easier than changing your patterns of speech. I know people leaving negative comments must suck and I hope you don’t read this as negative -I’ll definitely still be watching all your stuff, but I am a video editor for online content too and know that it would help increase your retention if you were to address it. Saying this with nothing but love for you and your work x

    quadboxquadbox16 kun oldin
  • Dumb question: wouldn't it have been a lot easier to paint the trim before applying it? You might still have to do a little touch up, but still a time-saver...? I would love to see some ideas for setting up a craft room. Thanks!
